On March 16, 2013, Kelly Hyman appeared on her father’s property in the evening. Hyman showed up unannounced and without any prior notice. She attempted to open the front door of the tenant who lived on the property. The door was locked, so Kelly Hyman began turning the knob, pushing, trying to forcefully enter the apartment. The tenant answered the door. Kelly Hyman proceeded to serve her with papers and told the tenant that she (Kelly Hyman) is now the owner of the property and that the tenant should pay her the rent. Kelly Hyman was on the property with her husband and Federal Judge Paul G. Hyman. Paul Hyman told Kelly Hyman to ask the tenant about her leasing agreement to which the tenant replied: “If Kelly owns the property, she should know when I moved in.”
The tenant filed the police report with the City of Miami Beach because the tenant felt that Kelly Hyman’s and Paul Hyman’s actions were an intrusion of her privacy and an unauthorized trespassing.
